So photographers and women of a certain age love the golden hour for its special power to enhance, obscure, and all-around flatter. I love it for the way it set the hill behind my home on fire, lighting every blade and branch with equal emphasis, so that I could see everything and no-thing at once. This painting is about that moment when I look up from the dinner dishes, grab my camera, and run up the hill to drink it all in like the elixir of life.
P.S. The edges are painted the beautiful periwinkle blue seen on the horizon after the sun has just dropped, all soft and sleepy coolness. Or you could frame it...
